For those seeking the pinnacle of steak and seafood dining in San Diego, Steak 48 Del Mar delivers an unforgettable blend of impeccable flavors, polished service, and a captivating atmosphere.
Nice food and trendy ambiance, steep prices as expected. Full and must make a reservation. The meat was good, as expected. Appetizers and sides are varied but still on the upper end side (truffle, caviar, lobster, etc) and good but maybe too much for me. Wine was a great surprise, with a long by the glass menú and very fair prices (like double the regular amount is served here). Service was not great, very busy and kind of chaotic but nothing terrible, the place is very big and there are a lot of tables and a lot going on. Still felt on the pricier side and service was not on par. Good option for del mar but still don't think is worth the trip from downtown with so many great options there.
Steak 48 is an absolute experience, not just a dinner. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels upscale yet warm. The service is exceptional—attentive, knowledgeable, and perfectly timed without ever feeling rushed. The steaks are cooked to perfection, rich in flavor, and incredibly tender. You can taste the quality in every bite. The sides are just as memorable—generous portions, beautifully presented, and meant to be shared. The seafood options and appetizers are equally impressive, making it hard to choose just one highlight. To top it off, the cocktail and wine selection is thoughtfully curated and pairs perfectly with the menu. Steak 48 sets the standard for a high-end steakhouse: refined, consistent, and worth every visit. Highly recommended for special occasions or when you simply want an unforgettable meal. ⸻ If you want it shorter, more casual, or extra luxurious/poetic, tell me and I’ll tailor it to your style.
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Steak 48, and it was absolutely perfect. The steaks were cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and easily some of the best we’ve ever had. The service was spot-on from start to finish; attentive without being overbearing, and every detail was handled with care. The ambiance was warm, elegant, and romantic, which made it the perfect setting for such a special occasion. Steak 48 made our milestone anniversary truly memorable, and we can’t wait to come back!
service was excellent, very attentive, polite food was over salted. steak salty. sides salty. every bite paired with water. steak ordered medium turned out it was medium rare, better one grade up when u order. please consider to put shaved salt aside rather than on top of steak. crispy surface but i think it was burnt. dessert very sweet. quite noisy, not an elegant restaurant if you are expecting that
We celebrated our anniversary here. The hand written note thanking us and personalized dessert elevated the night. The steak was amazing. I was surprised by them overcooking and a shell in my lobster. Overall the service was amazing, the food was great, and the drinks/wine were delicious. You definitely need a reservation.
Steak 48 Del Mar is an amazing spot for celebrations! We recently celebrated my daughter's birthday and my sister and her husband's retirement here, and it was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was elegant, the service was outstanding, and the food was simply delicious. The 28-day aged steaks were cooked to perfection, and every side dish was beautifully prepared and flavorful. Our server, Bryce, was not only attentive and kind but also very charming. We had such a wonderful experience and will definitely return for future special occasions. Thank you, Steak 48 Del Mar, for making our celebrations so memorable!
A dinner where everything goes perfectly? It exists — and it’s called Steak 48 Del Mar. From the complimentary bread to the final sip, everything was on point. We went to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday — he’s a huge fan of the place — and I totally get why. The ambiance, service, and every single dish were worthy of the occasion. It was my first time at this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. We were welcomed with a warm skillet bread, freshly baked and buttery as can be. We devoured it. To kick things off, we ordered a couple of Aperol Spritz, perfectly balanced and super refreshing. Just the right mood-setter. For starters, we had the Pacific Yellowtail Hamachi (the one in the photo) and the Rhode Island Calamari & Shrimp — which didn’t even last long enough for a picture. Both were light and beautifully prepared, letting the quality of the ingredients shine. For the main course, my wife and I shared a roasted beet salad and a 45-Day Dry Aged Bone-In Ribeye (22oz) cooked medium to medium-well… and wow. Flavor, texture, marbling, seasoning, fat — everything was on point. We added a side of truffle butter for the steak and some unforgettable mac & cheese. The food was so good we didn’t even leave room for dessert. We just wrapped it all up with an espresso martini that hit the spot. Steak 48 Del Mar is one of those spots where everything adds up: top-tier service, classy-yet-relaxed ambiance, and a kitchen that overdelivers. No doubt, we’ll be back.
